Tasty Chinese Spring Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 package spring roll wrappers
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the shredded carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, onions, celery, garlic, soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil until well combined.
  2. Place a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner facing towards you. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the vegetable mixture onto the wrapper, leaving a 1-inch border on the bottom and sides.
  3. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold in the two sides and roll tightly to seal the spring roll.
  4. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling until all the spring rolls are made.
  5. In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot. Fry the spring rolls in the oil until golden brown, about 3 minutes.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips:

  • To make the spring rolls even crispier, try brushing the wrapper edges with a beaten egg before rolling.
  • You can also add other ingredients to the filling such as cooked protein, noodles, or bamboo shoots for extra flavor and texture.
