South Indian-Style Fish Curry

  • 1 pound of fish, sliced into pieces
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • Cilantro, for garnish

Fish curry is a popular South Indian dish that is easy to make and delicious. This dish is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion. The combination of spices and herbs used in this recipe makes it a flavorful and delicious dish that is sure to be a hit with everyone.

Start by marinating the fish with salt and turmeric powder for 30 minutes. In a pan, heat the oil and add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add the chopped onion, green chilies, and grated ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the onion is translucent.

Now add the marinated fish to the pan and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally to ensure the fish is evenly coated with the sauce.

Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with steamed rice or any other accompaniment of your choice.
