Chinese Beef and Broccoli
Ingredients:
- 1 lb flank steak, sliced thin
- 2 heads of broccoli, cut into florets
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced steak with the 1/4 cup of cornstarch. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over high heat. Add the steak and cook for 2-3 minutes or until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds or until fragrant.
- Add the broccoli florets to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes or until tender-crisp.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
- Return the steak to the pan and pour the sauce over the top. Stir to coat the steak and broccoli evenly.
- Bring the sauce to a boil and cook for 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Serve hot over steamed rice.

- For a spicier dish, add 1 teaspoon of chili flakes to the sauce mixture.
