Classic Apple Pie

For a classic dessert, try this delicious apple pie. With a tender crust and a sweet and tangy filling, it's the perfect treat for any occasion. Here's what you need:

  • 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one of the pie crusts to fit the bottom and up the sides of the pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust in the prepared dish and dot with butter.
  5. Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple mixture.
  6. Trim the edges of the pie crusts and crimp to seal.
  7. Brush the top of the pie with the beaten egg to create an egg wash.
  8. Cut slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  10. Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
