Classic Apple Pie
For a classic dessert, try this delicious apple pie. With a tender crust and a sweet and tangy filling, it's the perfect treat for any occasion. Here's what you need:
- 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
- 6 cups thinly sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one of the pie crusts to fit the bottom and up the sides of the pie dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust in the prepared dish and dot with butter.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple mixture.
- Trim the edges of the pie crusts and crimp to seal.
- Brush the top of the pie with the beaten egg to create an egg wash.
- Cut slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
