Recipe for Aloo Palak:
Aloo Palak is a popular North Indian dish made with potatoes and spinach in a creamy and flavorful sauce. This vegetarian dish is packed with nutrition and flavor, and is often served with rice or Indian breads. Our easy Aloo Palak recipe is perfect for a quick and healthy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients:
- 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 cups fresh spinach, washed and finely chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter for a few seconds.
- Add chopped onions and green chilies and sauté until onions turn translucent.
- Add ginger and garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala and cook for a minute.
- Add cubed potatoes, salt, and half a cup of water. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
- Add chopped spinach and mix well. Cover and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Once the spinach is cooked, turn off the heat and let the curry cool down for a few minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, naan or any other Indian bread.
