Baby Massage Techniques
1. Preparation
Choose a warm, quiet space, and use a soft surface for your baby to lie on. Have a gentle, natural oil on hand to use during the massage.
2. Legs and Feet
Start by massaging your baby's legs, using long, gentle strokes from their thighs down to their feet. Gently squeeze and roll your baby's legs between your hands. Finish by massaging their feet with your thumbs, using circular motions.
3. Arms and Hands
Similar to the legs, use long, gentle strokes to massage your baby's arms from their shoulders down to their hands. Gently squeeze and roll their arms between your hands. Massage their hands with your thumbs, using circular motions.
4. Chest and Tummy
Place both hands on your baby's chest and stroke outward toward their shoulders. Then, move your hands to their tummy and gently massage in a clockwise direction, following the path of their digestive system.
5. Back
With your baby lying on their tummy, use long, gentle strokes to massage their back from their neck down to their bottom. Avoid applying pressure directly on their spine.
6. Face and Head
Using your fingertips, gently massage your baby's face, starting with their forehead and moving to their cheeks, nose, and chin. Finish by gently massaging their scalp, avoiding the soft spot on the top of their head.
